Daily Queery - the daily LGBTQ+ trivia game

Daily Queery is a trivia game about LGBTQ+ history and culture. Five questions a day, the same five for everyone, replaced at midnight.

There is no sign-up and nothing to pay. Your streak sits in your own browser, so it lasts as long as you don't clear your site data.

They come from four categories. Drag Herstory is Drag Race and the decades of drag that came before it. Pop Culture is the music, film and television the community took as its own. Seriously Gay is history, politics and activism. Gay Nerd is the science and psychology of being queer, including the parts researchers found genuinely surprising.

The range is deliberately wide. One day it is a lip sync, the next it is a piece of legislation from the 1920s, and the day after that it is something about penguins.

Each set mixes easy and hard on purpose. There is usually one most people will get, and at least one that only pays off if you really know the subject.

Every answer comes with a short explanation. Those are worth reading - a lot of the time they are the reason the question is in the game at all.

I have always been a big trivia fan. I've had so much fun going to pub quiz nights, and playing trivia games with my friends that I wanted to create a trivia game for our community. Something that is fun to play. Something you can brag about when you do well, and something that helps us learn about our history and aspects of our culture that we may have never otherwise known.

There is a second half to the site that has nothing to do with the game. Every date has its own page of written articles about what happened on it.

August 4 is the day the House of Commons voted to criminalise lesbianism and the Lords decided it was safer not to mention it. August 5 has a gay bar in Milwaukee fighting off an attack eight years before Stonewall, and Uruguay's first same-sex wedding, held in a hospital ward at five to eight in the morning because one of the two men was dying.

Everything is researched and checked before it goes up, and where the sources disagree we say so. New dates go up regularly.
